Rustic weddings makes guests feel as though they have taken a little step back to days gone by, when popular social functions were held at little church chapels or a neighbor's barn. You can pull off the perfect barn wedding by combining the right elements to keep it chic, and not kitschy. One of the benefits of a barn wedding is that you can keep things relatively simple. Weddings were not nearly as extravagant as present times, and you can draw your inspiration from that and then give it your own flair. Here are a few elements that can be combined to create the perfect barn wedding. Raw Materials I love that raw wood is so in right now! Use them to highlight different items or as pillars, as this bride did with her cake. Mason Jars Mason jars are an absolute must! Use them to serve pink lemonade or sweet iced tea. They can also be incorporated into your decor. They make excellent vases for your flowers or fill them with candy on a candy bar. Feminine Flowers Because your venue if more rustic, you can balance that with the flowers you choose. Incorporate softer flowers such as Hydrangeas, Rananculous, Carnations, or even wildflowers to add feminine touches. Lighting A traditional barn tends to have low lighting and in many places you will need to provide some additional lighting so that people can see, especially in the evening. Luckily, if you do it right, it will only add to the ambiance. Cowboy Boots Boots are a more practical option for a barn wedding than heels because this venue will probably have uneven walking surfaces and lots of tall grass. Luckily, it's in and when paired with a simple summer dress, it's adorable! The Dress Last, but certainly not least, what kind of dress should you choose? For a barn wedding, you probably want something simple and more fitted for practical purposes. I love a dress with vintage lace detail because the dress will mirror the time period and feel of the rest of the wedding. If you plan to wear your boots, then get a dress where you can show them off a little. Finish the look with your grandmother's pearl and you will look perfect. Photographer: Floral Designer: Cake Designer: Today we are adding oriental lilies to the flower encyclopedia. Lilies are gorgeous, large flowers grown from bulbs. They represent ambition and peace and come in gorgeous colors, including beautiful bi-color combinations, making each petal its own work of art. Click here to print the card. Hello dear readers! As you know, the FDL Bridal Show was this weekend and it was such an amazing way to spend Sunday afternoon. Here are just a few of my favorite highlights:
Dancing Brides-to-be and their entourage partied on the dance floor with DJ Cesar Gil. Cut A Rug Dance Studio gave Dancing With The Stars worthy dance demonstrations to prepare brides for their first dance. The Brides And the bridesmaids! And the Moms! I loved meeting everyone and hearing about your plans so far. Some of you have some amazing days planned and we love hearing about them! The Games Brides and grooms competed to win over $9,000 dollars in prizes. There was a scavenger hunt, the newlywed game and drawings. I loved seeing the grooms in a game of musical chairs and the brides catch the bouquet toss! The grand door prize for Laser Hair Removal valued at $1,900. The Fashion The fashion show featured gorgeous gowns from BHLDN, an upscale Houston bridal boutique and tuxedos from Parvani Vida. Brickhouse Bridal was also there with gorgeous dresses from their collections. It was so much fun. If you attended, I would love to hear your favorite things! |
