Are you a D-I-Y bride? Then here is an event you can't afford to miss. Boutique firm Habitually Haute Event Design is hosting and curating I Do D-I-Y: A Bridal Showcase for the Indie and D-I-Y Bride. The company’s owner, Jeneba Wint, is glad to bring some much needed education and inspiration to the area.
Having lived on the east coast and now residing in the Houston area, she sees some things are true for couples everywhere. “They don’t want cookie cutter. Couples today want their weddings to reflect their individual personality, as well as their identity as a unit”, says Wint. With that in mind, I Do D-I-Y is set to help.
Trends in the wedding industry are showing that independent (indie) and Do-It-Yourself vendors are getting a greater demand. This increase may be due in part to the economic climate. Going with a smaller company for something like hand crafted invitations means you will have more input in the process, and likely be more able to control costs along the way.
Others choose this route because they would like to be more in charge of the creative aspects. People with interesting proposal stories, special hobbies, and a
variety of interests may find themselves better represented by a small business with attention to detail than by a large company with a standard selection.
Do-It-Yourself means having a large role in the finished product, giving couples the opportunity to take full ownership of their big day and not feel the show is running them. Habitually Haute is very pleased that the event will feature awesome resources like Official makeup sponsor Lamik Beauty who will be offering makeovers on site. Lamik is a heavy hitter in the beauty industry, but since they focus on education - often offering beauty tips and classes in addition to their great
products - they fit perfectly into the D-I-Y theme.
Also present will be Munaluchi Magazine, an authority in bridal inspiration that speaks especially to women of color which. "Indie brides and brides of color are
both under served in the wedding industry," says Wint "so this was a good fit also".
Budget friendly Joie De' Linens and other great vendors will also be on hand.
The event is free to attend. Samples, demonstrations, treats, and door prizes will be available free of charge, while more extensive services will be offered at discounted rates for registered attendees who sign up with the vendor on-site at the showcase. The I Do D-I-Y event will be held at The Hilton Garden Inn located at 15400 John F Kennedy Houston TX 77032 on October 21 from 4:00- 8:00 pm. To register visit their site.
